Ch. 5

It was suddenly all very clear to him. There was one person close enough to them who just so happened to have the moral turpitude to write dirty stories about the two of them behind their backs. Of course! His mind provided him with the memory of a particular night that took place about a month ago. He remembered that evening very well, since he was facing a deadline and was forced to deal with it while suffering from a particularly nasty migraine.

He was sitting in his office, downing aspirin as if it were candy, while washing it down with cup after cup of black coffee, anything to give him a bit of relief so he could concentrate on the task at hand. Unfortunately, there was a certain pink-haired baka around that, whether consciously or unconsciously, saw fit to undermine any attempt that he made to relieve that headache. At that particular moment, it was by turning on that damn PSX, so his head was treated to the nice, blaring sounds of cheesy synthesized music sometimes interrupted by the soothing whispers of explosions and gunfire.

After a moment of this, Yuki lost his patience and stormed into the living room where Shuichi sat there and stared at the TV screen oblivious to anything else.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Yuki growled.

"Um, minding my own business, just like you told me to." Shuichi offered.

"I told you to keep this down! How the fuck is the aspirin supposed to help my headache if I keep hearing that goddamn racket of yours?"

"But if I turn it any lower, I won't be able to hear the characters talk!" Shuichi pouted.

"I don't care, it's your fault that you fucked up your ears by playing at all those loud concerts. Now if you don't turn it down, I'm throwing it out the window!" Yuki threatened through clenched teeth as he rubbed his temples.

Shuichi frowned. "What are you, my mother? Because you're beginning to sound just like her."

Yuki sighed. "Yes, as a matter of fact, I am. Since you never fail to demonstrate that you are clearly in need of parental guidance, I feel that this is the only thing I can do as a tribute to the poor woman who spent most of her adult life trying to raise you, and probably prays every night in tears, wondering if you'll ever amount to anything."

"Okay, Mom. Then why do you fuck me up the ass every chance you get?" Shuichi snapped back.

Yuki growled. He did not need to be having this argument! Combining the sound of the goddamn TV with Shuichi's grating voice, he really didn't think his head would be able to handle much more. Just then the doorbell rang. Exasperated, Yuki sighed. That was the absolute last thing he needed, company.

Muttering a curse to himself, Yuki walked over to the door, certain that it was Tohma, or maybe that longhaired kid that Shuichi was friends with. It didn't matter, though, he would politely let whoever it was know that this wasn't a good time, before he went back to having his nightly argument with Shuichi. He threw open the door, and opened his mouth to speak, but was a bit shocked to find a skinny girl standing at the doorway.

He stared at her for a moment, recognizing the face, but not able to put a name to it. She stared back, nose red and blue eyes swollen with tears.

Yuki shook his head. Of course, he should have noticed the resemblance.

"Shuichi, there's a girl who looks like you standing here." He said as he walked away from the door and into the kitchen to prepare another pot of coffee.

"Maiko? What are you…" Shuichi got up to walk to the door just as the girl launched herself at him and nearly knocked the both of them to the hardwood floor.

"Oh! Onii-chan!" She wailed. "You have to help me. My life is just over!" She cried, rubbing her face on Shuichi's shirt.

It took a few minutes, but Shuichi was able to calm her down enough to get her to sit on the couch, and explain her problem.

"Mom was snooping around in my room again, and she found a condom wrapper!"

Yuki chuckled to himself as he stood in the kitchen to listen to the conversation. Suddenly, he had something to distract him from the headache.

"That's it?"

"And she found where I hide my yaoi BDSM anthologies! She says that she's going to tell Daddy!"

"It's no big deal." He tried to console his hysterical sister, while gently rubbing her back. "Mom might be a little mad now, but she's not one of those old fashioned biddies. She'll get over it!" He reassured.

"Yeah," Yuki interjected into the conversation as he entered the room with a glass of water that he handed to Maiko. "I mean, if she can get over the fact that her only son is screwing another guy, she certainly will get over the fact that her only daughter is a perverted hussy who likes to see kinky gay sex."

"Yuki!" Shuichi scolded, but it was too late, as the girl once again burst into tears.

"God, you two have no sense of humor!" Yuki shook his head as he made his way back into his office. "Just keep it down in here. I have a headache!" He reminded them, yet again.

She ended up spending the night, despite Yuki's protests, and the next morning, she returned home with no further argument, and Yuki simply assumed that it was the end of it, or so he thought.

"Hi guys! What's up?" The girl sauntered into the living room; in quite a more agreeable mood than the last time she had visited their apartment. She took a seat on the couch and looked up at Yuki, who had a look on his face that could only be described as homicidal. She then looked over at Shuichi who stood next to the writer; he looked mortified, and couldn't bring himself to make eye contact with anyone.

Yuki shoved a manila folder at Maiko. "Does any of this look familiar?" He asked, trying to mask any sign of contempt that his voice may have held.

Maiko took the offering and skimmed its contents. A moment later, she looked up. "Yeah, I kinda wrote it." She admitted, sheepishly, a slight blush crept over her cheeks.

"Really? Well, I hope you don't mind, but I have a couple questions for you. For starters, why do you keep sending them to Shuichi's email address?"

"What? I didn't do that. Sometimes I wrote stuff at school and emailed them to my home account, but that was it. It was really weird too, because sometimes, my stories would get lost, as if Mom was checking my email again!" Maiko snickered. "Hope she liked what she saw." She commented wickedly.

Yuki rolled his eyes. She had made the same error that Shuichi did by confusing their email addresses. He shouldn't have been surprised, since that was the clue that helped him solve that little mystery. Apparently, when apples fall off the same tree, they have a tendency to land close to one another.

"Okay then, why did you write about us?"

Maiko sighed. "I had a writing teacher once tell me that I should write about what I know, and since I know Shuichi… Okay, maybe writing about *that* wasn't the best thing to do." She conceded. "I'm sorry. Okay?"

Yuki ignored the apology and continued, "One more question. How the fuck do you know what Shuichi likes in bed?!" He asked, quickly losing any restraint. Shuichi wanted to *die*. He was only afraid of what Maiko's answer would be.

She simply shrugged. "The night I stayed here, you guys sort of left your bedroom door open."

"Oh, so you felt fit to take a little peek huh, to hell with a little something called privacy, eh?"

"You kept the door open." She repeated, not fazed at all by Yuki's harsh questioning. "If you didn't want someone to see you or hear you. You would have closed the door."

Shuichi felt light-headed. Just the idea that his own sister saw…

They were distracted by a loud thud. Yuki looked to the ground to see Shuichi lying there in a crumpled heap, pale and unconscious.

She had to admit, she was a little worried about how her brother and Yuki would react after they found out about her little pastime. But luckily, it resolved itself well in the end. She apologized for invading their privacy, and writing those stories, and they seemed to accept it, and that was the end of it.

Lying on her bed, she sighed contently and rolled over onto her back. It was a good thing that Yuki-san so understood too! At first he looked so angry with her, especially after Shuichi fainted, but he was a male after all, and like all the other males she knew, he really couldn't stand to torture a girl in tears. She smiled to herself. Oh well, even if she couldn't write about them, she still had other means of keeping herself entertained, she thought as she pulled out the new manga that she had special ordered a few weeks ago.

"Maiko! Get down here right now! We need to talk!"

Her mother's voice, and she sounded angry. Goddamn, she was in her bitchy mood again, Maiko thought as she rolled her eyes and climbed out of bed. If she was going to nag at her again about washing the dishes…

"Hey Yuki?"

"What is it?"

"Why is there a charge on your credit card to a company called Good Vibrations?"

"Oh that." Yuki chuckled. "That was just a little peace offering from me to your sister. You know, a way of saying no hard feelings. I ordered a nice little toy that I'm sure that someone with her tastes would love, and had it shipped to her."

Shuichi's eyes went wide. "But Yuki, you know that our mom likes to go through her mail! Especially after all that has been going on between them lately!"

Yuki smiled. "Oh no… I completely forgot about that..."

FIN!!!
